About Pamela
I loved drawing, even as a child and have always enjoyed expressing myself creatively in various ways. I didn't venture into the world of fine art until about about 1997. Rather than invest in paint, when I did not know if I would be successful, I began with colored pencils. This also worked best in a small space while still raising children. It wasn't until 2000 that I discovered how wonderful it felt to have a paint brush in my hand and I dove in with all my heart. I loved oil painting from the beginning. I taught myself to paint by reading instructional books and looking at other artist’s work. Most importantly, I let nature teach me. I began asking myself 'What color is that tree trunk really? How would I mix the color of that water? How would I make it move? How could I re-create that texture?' It has been an amazing adventure! Painting has opened the world to me as I have learned to see so much more than I had previously.
I live on the Sandy River between the city of Sandy and Mt Hood. My environment is full of beauty and inspiration. I have shown and sold my work through galleries, community spaces and personal connection. Psmithsted@gmail.com @pamelasmithstedart |
